Complexica Pty Ltd, a leading provider of Artificial Intelligence software for supply & demand optimisation, announced today its successful site visit to Lapetasi International Container Terminal (LICT) in Port Vila, Vanuatu, adding resilience to Vanuatu’s critical supply chain following their latest earthquake.

In 2018, IPDS selected Australian company Wave Systems, a division of Complexica Ports & Logistics business unit, for the implementation and ongoing support of the Terminal Operating System (TOS) at Lapetasi International Container Terminal (LICT) in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the shipping and logistics industry, Wave Systems brought deep expertise across shipping, transport, warehousing.

“In Port Vila we run a unique operation with shipping, transport & warehousing. Wave Systems provided a fully integrated solution covering all aspects of the operation. Their team also helped implement processes and procedures to increase efficiency. Leveraging tablet devices for real-time updates, the TOS offers a unified solution integrated with our financial system and shipping lines.”

During the initial rollout, Wave Systems delivered onsite training, documented processes, and provided go-live and post-go-live support. Their commitment continues through regular reviews and training visits, ensuring the TOS evolves with LICT’s growing operational demands.

Following the devastating earthquake in December 2024, which significantly impacted Port Vila and LICT, Wave Systems played a key role in helping the terminal resume full operations. Through innovative strategies and external facilities, LICT not only recovered but also expanded its capabilities.

As part of the long-term recovery, external satellite terminals were established to optimize container transfers and reduce congestion. During a recent support visit by Hana Pokorna, Wave Systems implemented mobile solutions at the Bladeniere satellite terminal, enabling real-time container tracking and seamless communication with the main wharf.

“The TOS at LICT has implemented EDI reporting, giving us up-to-date visibility of our containers. The mobile devices at Bladeniere ensure gate moves are recorded in real time, eliminating processing delays.”

A great example of how technology, resilience, and collaboration can transform port operations, even in the face of adversity.
