ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, 4 November 2026 – Complexica Pty Ltd, a leading provider of Artificial Intelligence software for supply & demand optimisation, announced today that North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) has selected WaveSCM™ Ports & Terminals, developed by Complexica’s wholly-owned subsidiary Wave Systems, as the Terminal Operating System (TOS) for the Mackay Container Depot.
Following a competitive Request for Quotation process, WaveSCM will be deployed as a fully managed Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, managing all facets of container depot operations at Port of Mackay – from wharf and vessel operations, through yard and gate control, to maintenance and repair, billing, and customer self-service.

The Port of Mackay Container Depot handles import and export containers, providing stevedoring, container receival and delivery, and associated port logistics services. As the majority of NQBP’s requirements are supported by standard WaveSCM functionality, the system will be deployed essentially as a ‘turnkey’ solution, giving the container depot a proven platform that is already well established in the Australian market. The deployment will include:
- Vessel Management – graphical vessel planning, BAPLIE import and export, and mobile load/discharge confirmation, with operational timestamps aligned to IMO Port Call Optimisation guidance.
- Yard Management – graphical yard planning, configurable stack rules and segregation, reefer monitoring, and equipment dispatch for reach stackers, forklifts, empty handlers and NQBP-owned internal transfer vehicles.
- Gate Management and Vehicle Booking System (VBS) – mandatory electronic pre-receival advice (ePRA) for every gate move, appointment slot and capacity management, and paperless, mobile-first gate processing.
- Billing & Financial Management – rate card management and automated invoicing, integrated with NQBP’s TechnologyOne ERP.
- Reporting & Dashboards – operational, management and KPI reporting, including real-time gate queue monitoring and truck turnaround times.
- Customer Web Portal – self-service container visibility for shipping lines and online VBS slot booking for transport companies.
- Integrations – EDI with shipping lines, the Australian Border Force Integrated Cargo System (ICS), and the 1Stop port community system.

WaveSCM will be hosted for NQBP on dedicated, network-isolated Microsoft Azure infrastructure, with production and testing environments in the Sydney region and a disaster recovery environment in Melbourne, ensuring all data is stored and processed within Australia. The platform is delivered under Complexica’s ISO/IEC 27001:2022-certified information security management system, with Wave Systems responsible for all operational requirements including backups and disaster recovery.
“We are delighted to have been selected by North Queensland Bulk Ports to support operations at the Mackay Container Depot,” said Peter Pokorny, Chief Product & Technical Officer of Wave Systems. “WaveSCM has been purpose-built for port and terminal operators, and the majority of NQBP’s requirements are met by our standard functionality. That means we can deliver a proven, fully managed solution quickly, on a platform that will scale with the container depot as volumes grow.”

Due to its modular design, additional WaveSCM modules and functionality – such as warehousing, OCR and other integration options – can be activated as Mackay’s operations expand, without disruption to existing operations.
“NQBP’s selection of WaveSCM is a strong endorsement of our ongoing investment in the platform and in our Ports & Logistics business,” said Matt Michalewicz, CEO of Complexica. “We look forward to working closely with the NQBP team towards a successful go-live, and to supporting the growth of container trade through Mackay in the years ahead. Implementation has already started and is progressing well, with go-live expected next month.”

NQBP joins a growing list of operators running the WaveSCM platform, including Kimberley Ports Authority at its terminal in Wyndham, Ifira Ports Development Services (IPDS) at Lapetasi International Container Terminal in Vanuatu, and Aurizon across more than 30 sites nationally.
