Complexica Pty Ltd, a leading provider of Artificial Intelligence software for optimising sales, marketing, & supply chain activities, announced today that Jon Wheeler has joined the company as Director of Ports & Logistics, responsible for strategic relationship with Flinders Ports and the go-to-market strategy for the ports sector in general. Having started at one of the first automated container terminals in the world, Jon has accumulated over 25 years’ experience within the port and maritime industry, holding operational, senior IT and executive roles, managing teams and projects, focusing on continuous business improvement through technology, process, safety, risk governance, and people.
Before joining Complexica, Jon was the Chief Operating Officer and head of IT for the Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) in Australia, the first fully automated container terminal in the Southern Hemisphere. He was initially responsible for designing and implementing the innovative technical infrastructure and complex software integration architecture needed to support the highly advanced automated equipment, ensuring continuing business growth. As COO, he collaborated with several senior state, federal and industry stakeholders to continue business continuity through the challenges of the pandemic, while leading the technical project execution of VICT’s expansion project.
"I am absolutely delighted that Jon Wheeler has joined Complexica in this key leadership and strategic role within the business," said Matt Michalewicz, CEO of Complexica. "I don't know of anyone better qualified or more experienced to lead Complexica's expansion within this market vertical, and to provide our strategic investor and customer - Flinders Ports Holdings - with dedicated project focus in the coming years. I look forward to working with Jon in the coming months and years."
By way of background, Jon is an operationally experienced executive leader, uniquely skilled in designing, developing, implementing, and optimising automated container terminal systems, and associated equipment and operational processes. He is one of a few people who have been deeply involved in several automated terminal green-field projects in the UK and Australia, followed by business as usual (BAU) operations. Jon bridges the gap between technical innovation and business goals, and managing systems and operational projects to meet the demands of the business.
"I am thrilled and privileged to share that I have started a new role as Director Ports & Logistics with Complexica, a leading Artificial Intelligence software company based in Australia," added Jon Wheeler. "Exciting times ahead, working with a fantastic and highly-skilled team, helping to build upon the strategic relationship with Flinders Ports, and expanding Complexica’s optimisation role within the port and associated supply chain industries."
